Barrington
Barrington is located just 35 miles from bustling downtown Chicago. Settled in the beautiful Illinois forest preserves, Barrington is surrounded by abounding wildlife and gorgeous landscapes. Within its 70 square miles, the Barrington area is divided into eight suburban districts, called villages. The districts include Barrington Village, Barrington Hills, Inverness, South Barrington, North Barrington, Deer Park, Lake Barrington, and Tower Lakes. The eight villages span four Illinois counties.

Barrington families take great pride in their villages, with a special emphasis on education. The Barrington School District 220 has won numerous awards for its educational achievements. The district serves all eight villages with eight elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school.
The Barrington Area Library is also a favorite place for families to visit. The library offers a quiet place for students to study in the evenings and on weekends. It also offers drop in story times for preschoolers each week and book discussion groups for adults. The library has recently started offering computer classes for Barrington adults who want to brush on up the newest technologies.

| Barrington is widely known for its gorgeous Makray Memorial Golf Club. This privately owned course is open to the public. It was recently renovated to include a magnificent 24,000 square foot club house.

Barrington is a safe place for families, with an active police department and community watch program. The local police department is known for their Home Watch Protection Program, where home owners place their addresses on a list for police patrol when they go on vacation.
